Gilda V. Fulgenzi, 91, of Springfield, died on December 3, 2016, at St. Joseph’s Home. She was born June 14, 1925 in Springfield to Anthony and Anna (Cardinal) Fulgenzi, and they preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her two sisters: Lydia J. Antonacci and Eleanor Shrier, and two brothers: Geno Fulgenzi and Roland Fulgenzi. She is survived by several nieces and nephews.

Gilda was a graduate of Lanphier High School. After graduation, she went to work in the office of Federated Funeral Directors. From there she moved on as secretary at St. Aloysius parish, a post she held for 20 years. After this, she was employed as secretary for the Catholic Diocese of Springfield. Gilda worked at the seminary for young men studying for the priesthood for 14 years. She also volunteered for the Propagation of the Faith office. She was a member of the St. Louise Demarilac Guild, an active Auxiliary Legion of Mary for 33 years, and also volunteered at UIS as an usher and volunteered at the Marian Center.

Visitation: 10-11 am Wednesday, December 7, 2016 at St. Aloysius Church.

Funeral Mass: 11:00 am, Wednesday, December 7, 2016 at St. Aloysius Church with Reverend Clint Honkomp, O.P. officiating. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery.
