Gilda M. Fortner, 89, of Pleasant Plains, died peacefully with her family by her side, at 7:04 am, Friday, August 4, 2017 at her home. She was born February 2, 1928 in Springfield, to Louis and Anna Andreatta. She married Robert L. Fortner on May 30, 1950 and he preceded her in death on November 17, 1989.

Survivors include one son, James (wife, Charlett) Fortner of Pleasant Plains; one sister Emma Brandon of Springfield; one brother Anthony Andreatta of TN and many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; one brother, Albert Andreatta and three sisters, Norma, Mary and Catherine.

Gilda was a member of St. Joseph Church. She retired in 1982 from Illinois Bell Telephone Company after thirty-four years of service. She was a member of Telephone Pioneers and a dedicated volunteer for the church for many years. Through the years she enjoyed bus trips and cruises.

Visitation: 5:00 – 7:00 pm, Monday, August 7, 2017 at Staab Funeral Home – Springfield with a prayer service at 5:00 pm.

Funeral Service: 10:00 am, Tuesday, August 8, 2017 at St. Joseph Church with Reverend Manuel P. Cuizon, CRS, officiating. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph Church or SIU Alzheimer’s and Related Disorders.
