German Arbelaez, 57, of Springfield, died on Thursday July 14, 2011 in Springfield, IL. He was born on June 4, 1954 in Bogota, Colombia. His family immigrated to the U.S. in 1968, eventually moving to Springfield in 1974.
German is survived by his parents; Clara S. Arcila of Springfield and Francisco Arbelaez of Panama; his step-father, Jose M. Arcila, M.D. of Petersburg, IL; his sister, Maria Arcila (Erick) Duncan of Greendale, WI; his brother, Ed Arbelaez of California; his niece and nephew, Gabriela and Andrew Duncan, several aunts, uncles and cousins, and his beloved cat, ET.
German was an artist who worked as a graphic designer, videographer, tour manager, concert promoter, and entrepreneur. German had lived in L.A. for over 30 years and had returned to Springfield in 2009.
