Gerald “Jerry” L. Caslin, 76, of Springfield, died peacefully at home on Saturday, November 5, 2016. He was born September 4, 1940 in Aledo, IL to William P. Caslin and Nancy Holmes, and they preceded him in death. He married Martha A. Bruce on September 12, 1960, and she survives.
Also surviving are his son, William H. (Mary) Caslin of Springfield; sister, Mary Bell of Marco Island, FL; brother William E. Caslin of Alexis, IL; three grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was also preceded in death by two brothers: Robert Caslin and Richard Caslin, and one sister, Dorothy Beard.
Jerry was a resident of Springfield since 1991. He was the owner and operator of Food Fantasies for over 20 years and he also owned Springfield Novelties and Gifts for 12 years, which his son managed. He served in the United States Marines from 1958-1961. He was a former Board Member of the Optimist Club and a Score Mentor in Springfield.
Visitation: 11:30 am – 12:30 pm, Wednesday, November 9, 2016 at Staab Funeral Home-Springfield.
Funeral Service: 12:30 pm, Wednesday, November 9, 2016 at Staab Funeral Home – Springfield with Pastor Marty Montgomery officiating. Burial will follow at Camp Butler National Cemetery where military honors will be conducted.
