Gerald "Jerry" Carter

Jerry Carter took his final camping trip to rock on in his final home on Monday, December 5, 2016. His body may have died at his earthly residence, but his family is pretty sure he’s busy partying in a new red RV with flames up the sides parked in the perfect heavenly spot. He’ll patiently wait for his loved ones’ times to come join the party as he tinkers on the old classic cars he’s probably already got up on blocks in the driveway to the Pearly Gates. He’d finally run out of garages to fill with car parts, auction finds and yard sale treasures, so Jerry had to move on to being ornery and telling his stories to a new audience. He’ll be missed at car shows and campgrounds for miles around, but he will be in our hearts forever. He will be remembered as a loyal friend with a forgiving heart, an uncle willing to fix a car for the low-low price of a case of Pepsi, the hard worker always looking for a few extra hours of overtime, the guy with the best stories and the funniest jokes, the loving father he didn’t have to be, and the faithful husband who will be missed beyond words.

Jerry is survived by his wife, Jeanine (Green) Carter, Daughter and her wife Sam and Cassidy Reynolds, beloved dog, Chevy; Sister, Laura Ambrose; brothers, Heith Carter, Johnny Carter, Bear, dad Beecher Ambrose, sister-in-law, Debbi Lerch and many nieces, nephews and in-laws.

Jerry was preceded in death by his brothers, Martin Carter and Willie Ambrose, Mother Cecelia Terrebonne, Mother-in-law Elaine Green and Pops, Gene Green.

Visitation: 4-7 pm Friday, December 9, 2016 at Staab Funeral Home – Springfield.

Funeral Service: 10 am, Saturday, December 10, 2016 at Staab Funeral Home with Reverend John Nelson officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Ridge Cemetery.
