George H. Nafziger, 85, of Springfield, passed away on Sunday, November 21, 2021 at his home. He was born February 22, 1936, in Springfield, the son of Elmer R. and Theresa (Carroll) Nafziger. He married Rita Gooch on March 13, 1965 and she survives.
Also surviving are his son, Philip (Terri) Nafziger of Waynesville, MO and granddaughter, Paige A. Nafziger of Bloomington.
He is preceded in death by his parents; and daughter, Nancy Elizabeth Nafziger.
George went to Springfield High School, Illinois Wesleyan as an undergraduate and Vanderbilt University for his Juris Doctorate. He was of the United Methodist faith. He was a proud member of TKE Fraternity. He worked for the Illinois Department Revenue as an Administrative Law Judge, retiring after 20+ years of service. George loved to travel, especially to Sanibel Island. He enjoyed learning and reading about all kinds of history.

I was sorry to hear the sad news for your family. George was a true gentleman and exceptional colleague. He graciously shared his professional knowledge on the job. I became a better attorney in part due to his willingness to work with new employees.
