George E. Moberly, 84 of Springfield, died at 8;20 pm, Monday, March 21, 2011 at The Regency.
He was born November 2, 1926 in Eldorado, KS. He was the oldest son of Glenwood and Opal Moberly. He married Ida M. Leone of Riverton on June 19, 1954 and she survives.
Also surviving are three sons and one daughter, Rich Moberly and wife Sue of Makanda, Nancee DeRosa and husband Frank of Tallula, Jim Moberly of Cantrall and John Moberly of Springfield; six grandchildren, Kendra & Matthew Moberly, Angela and Tara DeRosa, Zachary and Gabriella Moberly; one great grandchild, Alexys Bloodworth; one brother, James A. (Ginny) Moberly of Jefferson City, MO and several nieces and nephews.
George graduated from the University of Missouri, Columbia in 1952 and began his career at the Illinois Department of Transportation. He was Traffic Engineer in the Central Office from 1972 to 1983. He retired as the Bureau Chief of Maintenance in 1986 after 34 years of service.
He served in the US Army during WWII as a Technical Sergeant assigned to the Headquarters operation for the Western Pacific base Command.
George loved to read and travel. He was an avid fisherman, St. Louis Cardinal and Mizzou Tigers fan. He was a loving husband and wonderful father and grandfather with a terrific sense of humor. He will be missed.

Funeral Service: 11 am, Friday, March 25, 2011 at Staab Funeral Home with Pastor Grant Ray officiating.
