George D. Rapps, 65, a resident of Springfield for all of his life, died at 11:02 p.m. Friday, Feb. 26, 2010, at St. John’s Hospice.
He was born June 18, 1944, in Springfield, the son of George J. and Betty Menu Rapps.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Mr. Rapps worked at Fiatallis for over 18 years and then owned and operated G & D Lawn Maintenance.
George was of the Catholic faith. He enjoyed playing pool, watching NASCAR and the Speed Channel, spending time with his family and friends and riding his Harleys.
Surviving are a daughter, Sheryl (husband, Steve) Lucca of Riverton; a son, David L. Rapps of Springfield; two grandchildren, Tony and Kyle Lucca; two sisters, Rena (husband, Roger) Leggitt and Patt (husband, Dave) Antonacci, both of Springfield; a brother, Terry Rapps of Springfield; a niece; four nephews; and many cousins.
A casual, come as you are, memorial gathering will be held from 10 a.m. – 12 p.m. Wednesday, March 3, 2010, at Staab Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held at with Reverend Peter Harman officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Toys for Tots.
