Genevieve Ila Higgins, 101 of Springfield, died at Lewis Memorial Christian Village at 9:00 am, Friday, May 6, 2011. She was born November 24, 1909 in Bad Axe, MI. She was raised by her parents George and Irene Hofmann. She married Leonard Higgins in 1930 and he preceded her in death in 1983. She is also preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Harry Stone.
Genevieve is survived by her daughter, LulaJean (David) Bausch, Sr. of Springfield; a son, Leonard (Diana) Higgins of O’Fallon, MO; five grandchildren, Deborah (Kevin) Misner, David Bausch, Jr., Donna (Robert) Charlton, Connie (Chuck) Turbyeville and Tina (Steve) Dussold; six great grandchildren, Trista, Chris, Zac, Cathlene, Charles and Danny.
She was a member of Southside Christian Church. She was active at the churches she belonged to, was a former Girl Scout Troop leader and enjoyed crafting.
Genevieve had formerly lived in Missouri and has lived in the Illinois since 1998. She was a Saleslady at Famous Barr.
Graveside Service: 1 pm, Wednesday, May 11, 2011 at Oak Grove Cemetery in St. Louis, Missouri with Chaplain Tom Novy officiating.
