SPRINGFIELD – Geneva H. (Sally) Canham, 84, of Springfield, died at 4:48 p.m. on Monday, September 13, 2010 at St. John’s Hospice. She was born March 14, 1926 in Springfield, IL, the daughter of Louis and Gladys Wicks Redding. She married Harold Canham on December 15, 1956 and he preceded her in death on March 24, 2008. She is also preceded in death by her parents, 4 sisters, 3 brothers, 1 grandson and 1 daughter: Susan Prior.
Surviving are 4 daughters: Linda Griffin of Florida, Doris (Roger) Prior of Riverton, Virginia Leigh Barker of Peoria, and Charmayne Vicari of Springfield; 1 son: Terry L. Canham of Auburn, IL; 14 grandchildren; 27 great grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Geneva was a member of the Plymouth Congregational Church for over 75 years, the East Side Senior Citizens over 35 years, the After 5 Club and AARP. She was an advocate of Senior Nursing Homes and volunteered weekly. She was employed by F.W. Means as Laundry Supervisor. She was a lifelong resident of Springfield.
Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m., Thursday, September 16, 2010 at Staab Funeral Home. Funeral Service will be held at 11a.m., Friday, September 17, 2010 at Staab Funeral Home with Reverend Edward Wilson, officiating. Burial will be in Oak Ridge Cemetery.
