Geneva Frances Blankenship, 75, of Petersburg, died at 5:40 pm, Saturday, December 8, 2012 at Sunny Acres Nursing Home in Petersburg. She was born July 2, 1937 in Sicily, Illinois to Donald Leon and Sarah Alberta Nash Norman. She married Joseph Francis “Babe” Blankenship on July 2, 1951 and he preceded her in death on August 9, 2001. Her parents and two brothers Kenneth and Earl Norman also preceded her in death.
Survivors include two daughters Pamela (Donald) Edwards of Athens and Dawn Blankenship of Petersburg; two sons Michael Joe (Jacqueline) Blankenship of Chatham and David Wayne (Cindy) Blankenship of Springfield; eleven grandchildren, Scott, Matthew, Jason, Debbie, Brandon, Kate, Joseph, Christopher, Jennifer, Brea and Lexi; nine great grandchildren; two brothers Donald “Bud” (Donna) Norman of Springfield and Carl (Marla) Norman of Wentzville, MO and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Geneva was a member of Athens Christian Church. She loved gardening, crafting and Christmastime. She had worked at the Orthopedic Center and the Marion Center as a bookkeeper.
Visitation: 4-7 pm, Thursday, December 13, 2012 at Staab Funeral Home.
Funeral Service: 10 am, Friday, December 14, 2012 at Staab Funeral Home with Ken Gennicks officiating. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery in Petersburg.
Memorial contributions may be made to Sunny Acres Nursing Home.
