Gary Lee Norman

January 21, 1957 - September 2, 2016

Gary Lee Norman, 59, of Springfield passed peacefully at 7:45 am, Friday, September 2, 2016 at St. John’s Hospice. He was born January 21, 1957 in Davenport, IA.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Chick and Iris Skiles and paternal grandparents, Alice and Cecil Norman and a step brother, Tim Rabideau.

Gary will be greatly missed by his parents, Dixie and Richard Rabideau and Gary Norman; his children, Jaclyn (Brandon) Robbins, Jaimie (Wes) Kauffman, Derek (Krystle) Norman; his siblings, Janell (J.D.) Noseck and Doug (Debbie) Rabideau; his beloved grandchildren who called him “Pappy” will keep him in their hearts forever, Kyra (Sunshine), Derek Jr. and Ebin Norman, Beau Norman-Kauffman and Micah Kauffman and Boone and Oakley Robbins.

Gary graduated from Lanphier High School in 1975 where he was an athlete and made many friends and met his high school sweetheart, Laura Pasley.

Through the years, Gary was a carpenter, a member of the 183rd Fighter Wing at the Illinois Air National Guard and an AHC certified Door and Hardware Salesman. He was a great gardener and cook. He loved watching St. Louis Cardinals and the Chicago Bears.

He most of all loved watching his grandchildren grow and play. He was always their biggest fan.
Gary’s faith in his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and his family got him through the past years when he struggled the most. He was always brave and fought harder than anyone could ever believe. His children will always be proud of him and do their best to honor his memory.

He will be remembered for his light up the room smile, his great sense of humor, his stories and his contagious laughter. The world truly lost one of a kind and he will be greatly missed by all that knew him.
