Frank Thomas "Tom" Plotner, Sr.

Frank Thomas “Tom” Plotner, Sr. 82, of Springfield, died at 2:00 am, Tuesday, August 16, 2016 at Heritage Health Care. He was born November 21, 1933 in Dubuque, IA, to Everett Frank and Marie Edith Giese Plotner. He married Peggy Nadean Russell on October 19, 1979 and she survives.

Also surviving are five children, Frank Thomas (Lisa) Plotner, Jr. of Coal Valley, IL, Randy Plotner of Tampa, FL, Todd Plotner of Savannah, MO, Judy (Bobby) Carlson of Milan, IL, Gary (Anna) Plotner of East Moline, IL; one sister, JoAnne Snyder of Higbee, MO; one brother, Duane “Buck” (Penny) Plotner of Huntsville, MO; seven grandchildren, Michael Plotner, Melissa (Josh) DeCasteker, Jay (Erika) Booras, Amanda Booras, Nick (Sara) Plotner, Nick (Haylee) Sommers and Eric (Lindsay) Sommers; eleven great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one son, Terry Plotner.

Tom was a US Navy veteran serving during the Korean War. He has been a resident of Springfield since 1997 and previously lived in Davenport, IA. He retired from UPS after thirty-seven years as an over the road semi-driver. Tom enjoyed bowling, playing cards, woodworking and watching his baseball games. He was an Avid CUBS fan.

Visitation: 12-2 pm, Friday, August 19, 2016 at Staab Funeral Home in Springfield.

Funeral Service: 2 pm, Friday, August 19, 2016 at Staab Funeral Home with Pastor Donn Stephens officiating and where Military Honors will be conducted.

Burial will be at Davenport Memorial Park in Davenport, IA at a later date.
