CHATHAM – Frank Ignazio Murrill, 85, of Chatham died at 8 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 26, 2007, at his residence.
He was born Nov. 15, 1921, in Ringo, Kan., the son of Pete and Carmella Termine Murrill. He married Stella Saputo on May 19, 1946.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Clara Menendez; and a brother, Joe Murrill.
Mr. Murrill had been a resident of Chatham since 1961. He was the owner of The Tami Ami Lounge in Springfield for 19 years and worked at the Sportsman’s Lounge for many years.
He was a World War II Army veteran, a member of St. Joseph’s Church of Chatham, Knights of Columbus Council 4179 and American Legion 759 in Chatham.
Surviving are his loving wife, Stella Murrill of Chatham; two sons, Peter (wife, Judy) Murrill of Albermarle, N.C., and Frankie Murrill of Chatham; six grandchildren, Michael (wife, Jennifer) Murrill, Jeanna (husband, David) Rimmer, Anthony Murrill, Peter Joseph P.J. Murrill and Ami Murrill; five great-grandchildren, Katelin, Sarah Beth, Schaeter, Noah and Gabriel; a sister, Rose Menendez of Springfield; a brother, Louie Murrill of Springfield; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 30, 2007, at Staab Funeral Home with prayers there at 4 p.m. Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Oct. 1, 2007, at St. Joseph’s Church in Chatham with the Rev. John Nolan officiating. Burial will be in Camp Butler National Cemetery, where military honors will be conducted.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital or Masses at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Chatham.
