Francis L. "Frank" Vest

Reverend Francis “Frank” L. Vest, 76 of Springfield, died at 11:25 am, Wednesday, February 14, 2018 at Memorial Medical Center. He was born December 3, 1941 in Henryville, IN to Francis Marion and Mabel Durham Vest. He married Sandra Hegman on January 10, 1987 and she survives.

Also Surviving are five children, Peggy Vest of Mobile, AL, Terry (John, II) Hess of Mobile AL, Elke Vest of Mobile, AL, Renay Ortiz of Springfield and Corey (Brandon Johnson) Wickersham of Springfield; six grandchildren, Jamie Hess, Jennifer Hess, Julie Ann Hess, Nicole Shull, Terry Shull Jr. and Ashton Ortiz; three great grandchildren, Mia, Adan and Phoenix, with one on the way; one sister, Mary Ann Higgins of MO and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Eris Durham, one brother Charles Vest and one sister, Betsy Robinson.

Frank was a member of Friendship Full Gospel Church.

He was a US Air Force veteran serving during the Vietnam War. Frank retired as a Master Sergeant after 21 years and as a Barber after 20 years of service.

Visitation: 1 – 2 pm, Saturday, February 24, 2018 at Friendship Full Gospel Church, 1501 East Washington, Springfield, IL, 62703 .

Funeral Service: 2 pm, Saturday, February 24, 2018 at Friendship Full Gospel Church with Bishop James Nichols officiating.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
