SPRINGFIELD – F. Clifford “Cliff” Cummings, 67, of Springfield died at 3:50 a.m. Sunday, May 15, 2011 at Memorial Medical Center. He was born January 15, 1944 in Springfield, IL to William Joseph and Juanita Triplett Cummings. His parents, including his step-father, Larry Otte and one brother, Chuck Cummings preceded him in death.
Cliff was a resident of Springfield most of his life. He was a veteran of the United States Army serving during Vietnam. He was a member of DAV, VFW, and American Legion. He attended Griffin High School. Cliff was the manager of Cummings grocery stores.
Cliff married Cece Hicks on August 15, 1970 and she survives. Also surviving are two daughters, Jill (Kelly) Urbas of Springfield and Jennifer (Darren) Humphres of Athens; one son, Jim Tuning-Cummings of Springfield; five grandchildren, Frankie Cummings of Springfield, Megan and Matthew Urbas of Springfield, and Josh and Avery Humphres of Athens; two brothers, Bill (Gloria) Cummings of Decatur and Jim (Bev) Cummings of Jerseyville; one aunt, one uncle, several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Visitation: 5 – 7 p.m., Tuesday, May 17, 2011 at Staab Funeral Home.
Funeral Service: 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, May 18, 2011 at Staab Funeral Home with Reverend Robert Jallas officiating. Burial will follow at Camp Butler National Cemetery where military honors will be conducted by the Army and the Sangamon County Interveterans Burial Detail.
