SPRINGFIELD – Frances L. Dyer, 85, of Springfield died at 11:25 p.m. Friday, July 31, 2009, at Regency Nursing Care Residence.
She was born Oct. 16, 1923, in Arrowsmith, the daughter of Clarence and Rebecca Husseman Dodson. She married Glenn E. Dyer, DDS on June 8, 1944; he preceded her in death on May 19, 1986.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Thelma Scherick and Mildred Hazelwood; and three brothers, Edwin Dodson, Lyle Dodson and Lynn Dodson.
She is survived by a daughter, Beckie Dyer of Springfield; two sons, Larry (Francine) Dyer of Alexandria, Va. and Michael (Jeaneen) Dyer of Chandler, Ariz.; four granddaughters; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Frances was a resident of the Springfield area for over 50 years. She was a homemaker.
She was a member of Concordia Lutheran Church, where she was a former Sunday School Teacher. She was also a member of the Lunch Bunch at church, past member of Sweet Adelines Glendale, Ariz., Chapter, and enjoyed singing. She was a special event volunteer at the Illinois State Museum.
Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. Monday, Aug. 3, 2009, at Staab Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 4, 2009, at Staab Funeral Home, with Dr. Michael Koschmann officiating. Burial will be at 2 p.m. at East Lawn Memorial Park in Bloomington.
