Floyd T. Summers, 78, of Springfield went home to be with the Lord Wednesday, December 21, 2016 at Memorial Medical Center after an extended illness.

He was born June 11, 1938 to William & Gladys Summers in Hillsboro. He was the youngest of 10 children.

He married Frances Saunders on June 4, 1960. She survives. Also surviving are their six children: Cindy (Ray) Spellbrink of Springfield; Paul (Kelly) Summers of Roodhouse; Mary (Randy) Madsen of Jacksonville; Martha (Mike) Jones of Houma, LA; Ruth (Dan) Ream of Taylorville and Tim (Abra) Summers of Buford, GA. He is also survived by 12 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews as well as a sister, Betty Scott, of Medora.

Mr. Summers was preceded in death by his parents, 4 brothers and 4 sisters.

Mr. Summers was a minister of the gospel for over 55 years. He was of the Pentecostal faith. He pastored churches in the Central Illinois area and traveled extensively preaching and proclaiming the gospel.

He was a disabled veteran having served in the U.S Navy. He retired from the State of Illinois Dept. of Employment Security – Job Service.

He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed building things and remodeling his homes.

A private service will be held at Camp Butler National Cemetery.
