Fairy Eileen Castleman 91, a resident of Chatham, formerly of Pawnee died at 1:37 am, Wednesday, July 20, 2022 at St. John’s Hospital. She was born January 1, 1931 in Pawnee the daughter of Cecil and Rosie Squires Russell.
She married the love of her life, Gerald “Cotton” Castleman on May 6, 1947. The were married for 49 years and 9 months. They had a great happy life and raised two beloved sons. Cotton passed away on January 17, 1996.
Survivors include her two sons, Charles Dean (significant other, Regina Ayers) Castleman of Jefferson City, MO and Terry (wife, Laurel) Castleman of Chatham; three grandchildren, Cindy (Jay) Whaley, Tricia (Wes) Higgins and Chad (Amber) Castleman; seven great grandchildren, Katherine and James Whaley, Taylor (Ian) Yoakum, Morgan and Riley Higgins and Cohen and Camden Castleman.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; nine sisters; three brothers and her beloved daughter-in-law, Patty Castleman.
Fairy attended schools in Pawnee and worked at Millburg’s Pharmacy before moving to Springfield. She later worked for ten years for the State of Illinois.
She was a volunteer at Lewis Memorial Christian Village and a member of South Side Christian Church.
Visitation: 11 am – 12:00 pm, Saturday, July 23, 2022 at Staab Funeral Home – Springfield.
Funeral Service: 12:00 pm, Saturday, July 23, 2022 at Staab Funeral Home – Springfield.
Burial will follow at Horse Creek Cemetery in Pawnee.
