Eugene “Geno” Cicciarelli, 86, of Riverton, died at 9:55 pm, Sunday, February 26, 2017 at St. John’s Hospice. He was born December 14, 1930 in Riverton to Silvio and Mary (Zara) Cicciarelli.
Surviving are one sister, Eleanor Cicciarelli of Riverton; three nephews, John R. (Kristin Miller) Cicciarelli of Dallas, TX, Paul A. (Joellyn Thrall) Cicciarelli of Countryside, IL and David Cicciarelli of Australia; two great nephews, Robert J. “Robby” Cicciarelli and Thomas G. Cicciarelli; one great niece, Cara Mia Cicciarelli and several cousins and godchildren.
Preceding him in death were his parents, two brothers and sisters-in-law; twin brother, Gene “McGee” (Janet Ray) Cicciarelli and Robert (Ruth Muchow) Cicciarelli.
Geno was a graduate of Riverton High School and a United States Navy veteran serving during the Korean War. He was in service for two years in Norman, OK and two years on the USS O’Hare. He was a member of St. James Catholic Church. He retired from the State of Illinois Department of Mental Health after 27 years of service. He had previously worked at Pillsbury. After retirement, Geno attended Lincoln Land Community College taking art classes.
He enjoyed attending native American Art Galleries, and was an avid Cubs, Bears, and Illini basketball fan.
Visitation: 9-10 am Friday, March 3, 2017 at St. James Church in Riverton.
Funeral Mass: 10:00 am, Friday, March 3, 2017 at St. James Church in Riverton with Reverend Raphael Paul DeMoreno officiating. Burial will follow at Camp Butler National Cemetery where military honors will be conducted.
