Elmer E. Rickey, 94, of Springfield, died at 11:52 pm, Wednesday, May 26, 2021 at Villas of Hollybrook. He was born January 20, 1927 in Camp Grove, IL, to Walter C. and Emma Bell Cornell Rickey. He married Marian D. Robison on March 23, 1952, and she survives.
Also surviving are two daughters, Carrie (Kurt) Leininger and Connie Rickey both of Springfield; two sons, Dennis (Rhonda) Rickey of Palatine, IL and Robert (Liliana) Rickey of Clarksville, TN; four grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Elmer was an engineer and retired after 38 years of service from Illinois Bell Telephone Company.
He was a resident of Springfield since 1962 and previously lived in the Peoria area.
He was a member of Telephone Pioneers and the ANSAR Shrine. He enjoyed woodworking and was a Chicago Cubs fan.
Visitation: 10-11 am, Tuesday, June 1, 2021 at Staab Funeral Home – Springfield
Funeral Service: 11:00 am, Tuesday, June 1, 2021 at Staab Funeral Home -Springfield with Pastor Butch Allen officiating. Burial will follow at Old Salem Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or the American Heart Association.

Marian and family, so sorry for your loss. I have a lot of memories of our families together, adults playing cards and kids just messing with the horses and ponies. Just came across Carries facebook page and the family pictures. Would not have recognized the boys. You have my sympathy.
