SPRINGFIELD – Elma M. Fish, 93, of Springfield died at 1:20 a.m. Saturday, March 27, 2010, at St. John’s Hospital.
She was born Oct. 20, 1916 in Springfield, the daughter of James William and Laura Jane Clark Kirby. She married Harry VanPelt in 1940. She married William F. Fish in 1966. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Harry VanPelt, second husband, William F. Fish, and son, Harry VanPelt Jr.
A lifelong resident of Springfield, she was a food checker in the Abe Lincoln, Leland and St. Nicholas hotels. She also owned Bill and Elma’s Tavern before retiring in 1979.
She was a Jehovah’s Witness.
Surviving are 1 stepson, William Thomas (Shirley) Fish; 3 stepdaughters, Jean (Earl) Moorman, Margaret (Dave) Molnar and Joyce Todulka; 2 grandchildren, Christopher VanPelt and Nancy VanPelt; several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, March 31, 2010 at Staab Funeral Home. Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, April 1, 2010 at Staab Funeral Home with Larry Price officiating. Burial will be in Camp Butler National Cemetery.
