SPRINGFIELD – Elizabeth C. Thoele, 84, a resident of Springfield for most of her life, died at 12:09 a.m. Monday, June 30, 2008, at Mary Lou’s Country Abode in Buffalo.
She was born Feb. 4, 1924, in Buffalo, the daughter of Harvey and Catherine Wooddell Barger. She married Frederick Thoele Dec. 5, 1942; he preceded her in death on Oct. 18, 1993.
Also preceding her in death were her parents and a brother, William Barger.
Mrs. Thoele was a housewife and mother. She was a member of St. Cabrini Church.
Surviving are four daughters, Elizabeth (husband, Robert) Taylor of Moss Point, Miss., Patricia (husband, Gary) Merriman of Springfield, Marian (husband, Ron) Krass of Buffalo Grove and Nancy Thoele of Springfield;
three sons, John (wife, Linda) Thoele and Christopher Thoele, all of Springfiel, and Richard (wife, Angi) Thoele of Irmo, S.C.; 13 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; sister, Cora Krumbach of Springfield; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday, July 6, 2008, at Staab Funeral Home, with a prayer service at 3:45 p.m. Funeral Mass will be at 12:30 p.m. Monday, July 7, 2008, at St. Cabrini Church, with the Rev. Richard Chiola officiating. Burial will be in Oak Ridge Cemetery.
