SPRINGFIELD – Eleanore Ruth Sturm, 79, of Springfield died at 12:30 a.m. Wednesday, June 4, 2008, at St. John’s Hospice.
She was born Aug. 25, 1928, in Springfield, the daughter of John and Anna Midlock Veseling. She married Stanley Bud Sturm Jr. on Feb. 12, 1949. He preceded her in death on July 16, 1961. Also preceding her in death were her parents; a sister, Marge Enlow; and grandson, Danny Pritchett.
Mrs. Sturm, a lifelong resident of Springfield, retired from the secretary of state’s office. She loved her family and friends and her greatest joy was spending time with them. She was a member of St. Joseph’s Parish since 1949.
Surviving are three daughters, Marcia (husband, Gene) Pritchett of Chatham, Brenda (husband, Dan) Milleville of Altamont and Laura (husband, Bob) Neale of Springfield; two sons, Joe (wife, Sharon) Sturm and Steve (wife, Beth) Sturm, all of Chatham; seven grandchildren, Sara Vanhala, Audrey (husband, Andy) Sanders, Nick Sturm, Jason and Angela Neale and Ashley and Lauren Sturm; three stepgrandsons, Derek and Darin Milleville and Adam Grogan; four great-grandchildren, Danny, Marisa and Malea Vanhala and Jacob Sanders; a brother, John (wife, Lil) Veseling of Salem, Wis.; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, June 5, 2008, at Staab Funeral Home. Funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, June 6, 2008, at St. Joseph’s Church with the Rev. Leo Enlow and Monsignor Thomas Holinga officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to St. Joseph’s School in Springfield.
