SPRINGFIELD – Edward O. Golladay, 82, of Springfield died at 11:43 p.m. Sunday, June 27, 2010, at St. John’s Hospital. He was born June 4, 1928, in Springfield, Illinois to Orland and Mary Kamnick Golladay. He married Viva Lea Kleban on June 30, 1951.
Mr. Golladay was a U.S. Navy veteran serving during WWII. He was a member of Sacred Heart Church where he was an active volunteer. Edward was a member of Pillsbury 25-year club and was an avid woodworker and gardener. He worked as a scheduler for Pillsbury Mills and retired after 42 years of service.
He is survived by his wife, Viva Lea Golladay; daughter, Pam Earleywine ; two sons, James and Tony Golladay; four grandsons, Paul, Chris, Ryan and Tony, Jr.; two great-grandsons, Will and Sam; a sister, Mary (Wayman) Tripp; a brother, Mike (Janet) Stuart; one uncle; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
His parents; stepfather, Jack Stuart; daughter, Katherine Golladay-Pope; and brother, Billy Stuart preceded him in death.
Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Wednesday, June 30, 2010, at Staab Funeral Home where a prayer service will be led by Sr. Mary Jean Traeger at 5 p.m. A funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, July 1, 2010, at Sacred Heart Church with Reverend Christopher House officiating. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery.
