Edward “Ed” Clarence Veseling, Jr., 80, of Springfield, IL, died on Wednesday, December 8, 2021, surrounded by his family. He was born October 18, 1941, in Chicago, IL, to Edward C. Veseling, Sr. and Agnes Marie Durako Veseling. He married Barbara Laswell on June 23, 1962 and she preceded him in death on August 4, 2017, shortly after their 55th wedding anniversary.
Also surviving are two loving daughters, Sheri Rodgers of Bloomington and Susan (Robert) Campbell of Decatur; five grandchildren, James Brent (Maggie) Rodgers, III, of Ozark, MO, Michael Todd (Victoria) Ivy, Jr., of Orlando, FL, Blake Edward Rodgers of Bloomington, Alexis Faith (significant other, Jay Campbell) Ivy of Decatur and Jarrod (fiancée, Candace Lehman) Campbell of Decatur; five great-grandchildren; three brothers, Darrell (Pat) Veseling, Vince (Betty) Veseling and Tim Veseling; four sisters, Edwina Dolack, Vicki Dike, Darlene (Dave) Scheiris and Tammy (Bo) Farley; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Barbara (Laswell) Veseling and his parents.
He later found love again with Judy Graves, the surviving spouse of Ken Graves, who were friends of Ed and Barb’s. Together, Ed and Judy enjoyed a wonderful life until Ed’s passing.
Edward was a graduate of St. Aloysius Grade School and of St. James Trade School. He was a member of St. Aloysius Catholic Church. He was very proud of the years when he was a tool and die maker at Sangamo Electric, as well as his 45 years with IBM as a Regional engineering specialist, servicing the large mainframe and supercomputers. He was recognized with many national awards during his career.
Edward was always willing to assist any family member, neighbor, or friend in need of help. He was a member of the Samaritans of St. John’s Hospital, K of C 4175, DANK German American Club, and the First Catholic Slovak Ladies Association. He loved his Corvette and the time spent with Central Illinois Corvette Club. He had many good memories of the time spent traveling to all of the states and to Europe with Barb.
Visitation: 10 am – 12 pm, Monday, December 20, 2021 at Staab Funeral Home – Springfield.
Funeral Mass: 1 pm, Monday, December 20, 2021 at St. Aloysius Church, with Rev. Steven Arisman, Rev. Kevin Mann and Rev. George Nellikunnel officiating. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Aloysius Church, Siteman Cancer Center or Animal Protective League.
The family requests that all guests in attendance wear masks and maintain social distancing.

I want to add to my post that my 2 youngest granddaughters Abagail Agnes and Lucinda Bo will greatly miss seeing their Uncle Bud and Judy at mass at St Cabrini. They always looked forward to seeing him and his joking with them as we would visit after mass out front.
