Edward “Ed” Bernard Bancroft, 60, of Auburn, IL, died at Memorial Medical Center on Friday evening, September 7, 2012. He was born July 28, 1952 in Springfield, to Bernard Henry and Rita Elizabeth Molohon Bancroft. He married Susan “Sue” Kirgan, July 1, 1973 . His parents and one sister, Barbara Bancroft-Long preceded him in death.
Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Sarah (Jon) Barth of New Berlin and Stephanie Bancroft of London, England; one son, Christopher Bancroft of Auburn; three grand children, Nathan, Jacob and Hannah; two sisters, Rita (Ray) Kopjo of Antioch, IL and Bernice “Bee” (Fred) Sweet of Essex, IL; one brother, Lawrence “Larry” (Sandy) Bancroft of Chatham and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Ed attended Blessed Sacrament Church, was very active with the traditional Latin Mass and was a member of the Virden Knights of Columbus Council 2321. He enjoyed the St. Louis Cardinals, deer hunting, baking pies and spending time with his family.
He worked at Fiat-Allis and ComEd before owning and operating Landscaping by Bancroft.
Visitation: 4:00–7:00 p.m., Tuesday, September 11, 2012 at Staab Funeral Home with prayers at 4:00 pm.
Funeral Service: 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, September 12, 2012 at Blessed Sacrament Church with Reverend Tom Donovan officiating.
Memorial contributions may be made to Blessed Sacrament Parish or Virden Knights of Columbus.
