Edward Earl “Rock n Roll” Pritchard, 58, of Athens, died at 4:50 p.m., Wednesday, February 22, 2012 at Memorial Medical Center. He was born February 21, 1954 in Springfield, to Jesse and Helen Henson Pritchard. He married Patricia Smith on March 27, 1976.
His father preceded him in death.
Survivors include his wife, Patricia of Athens, Mother, Helen Pritchard of Springfield, three brothers, Rick (Tabetha) Pritchard of Farmersville, Stu (Judy) Elmer III of Williamsville and Leon Pritchard, two half sisters Nancy (Paul) Klockenga of FL and Joyce and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was loved by all.
Ed graduated from Mount Clemens High School in Michigan. Growing up near Detroit, he developed a love for cars, music and playing the drums. He moved back to Springfield in 1974. He formerly worked as a bus driver and for Capitol City Bus and Towing. He was a member of 23 CB club and his handle was “PJ”. Through this club he met his wife Pat. He started working with WMAY and moved to WNNS in 1984. He was the owner of Sound Investment Dance Show. Currently Ed was with COOL 101.9 since 1993. He was owner of a Security Company called Springfield Area Security Services.
Ed was a former member of Cool Cruiser’s Car Club. He loved to refurbish old cars and cook and was an excellent problem solver. He loved to read, shop at garage sales and second hand stores.
Visitation: 4-7 p.m., Tuesday, February 28, 2012 at Staab Funeral Home.
Funeral Service: 10 a.m., Wednesday, February 29, 2012 at Staab Funeral Home with Pastor Ron Ferricks officiating.
Burial will follow at Joel Hall Cemetery in Athens.
