SPRINGFIELD – Edna R. Gathard, 92, of Springfield, and a resident of Riverton for most of her life, died at 3:30 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 11, 2007, at her home.
She was born June 28, 1915, in Springfield, the daughter of Harry and Bertie Reed Crim. She married George T. Gathard on Aug. 30, 1933; he preceded her in death on June 20, 2007. Her parents; daughter, Bertie Merritt; three brothers; and four sisters also preceded her in death.
Mrs. Gathard was an aide at Memorial Medical Center and St. James Trade School, where she worked with children with disabilities. She was a member of Riverton Christian Church. She enjoyed traveling.
Surviving are her daughters, Carolyn Dyer of Springfield; three sons, George W. (wife, Paula) Gathard and Richard Danny (Nancy) Gathard, both of Springfield, and Harold G. (Becky) Gathard of Edinburg; 15 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 13, 2007, at Staab Funeral Home. Services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 13, 2007, at Staab Funeral Home with Pastor Casey Scott officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery.
