SPRINGFIELD – Edith Irene Barrow, 95, of Springfield, died at 11:55 am, Sunday, September 19, 2010 at St. John’s Hospice. She was born on April 8, 1915 in Gilberts, IL to Alva Martin and Lula Blanche Wadkins Barnwell. She married Reverend Truman Alfred Barrow on June 9, 1934 and he preceded her in death on November 12, 1993. Also preceding her in death were her parents, 3 sisters Helen Martin, Lula Holloway and Mildred Wasson and one grandchild Jeramy Barrow.
She is survived by 2 daughters Nancy Clark and Kay (William) Tex both of Springfield; 2 sons James (Carol) Barrow and Paul (Cathryn) Barrow both of Tulsa, OK, 12 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren, 1 great great grandchild; 2 brothers John Barnwell of Florida and Robert Barnwell of Massachusetts and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Edith was a resident of Springfield since November of 2003 and had previously lived in Alton, Illinois. She worked for a couple of years at J.W. Woolworth and did cafeteria work at Memorial Hospital. Mostly she was a Homemaker. She was a member of Western Oaks Baptist Church.
Visitation will be from 9-10 a.m. with a Funeral Service at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, September 22, 2010 at Staab Funeral Home. Graveside service will be at 2 pm, Wednesday, September 22, 2010 at Valhalla Cemetery in Godfrey, IL. with Pastor Ed Ingram officiating.
