SPRINGFIELD – Earl L. Tipps, 96, of Springfield died at 7:20 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 18, 2009, at St. Joseph’s Home.
He was born July 19, 1913, in Springfield, the son of Orville and Pearl Herman Tipps. He married his first wife, Rose, in 1937; she preceded him in death in 1938. He married Eleanor Gerry G. Bruckner on June 11, 1939; she preceded him in death on June 14, 2009.
He also was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Floyd Tipps.
He is survived by three sisters-in-law, Georgina Wilkin, Frances Tipps and Marie Moffett, all of Springfield; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Earl was a lifetime resident of Springfield.
He worked for Pillsbury Mills for 32 years. He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving during World War II. He was a member of Lakeside Christian Church.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 22, 2009, at Staab Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 23, 2009, at Staab Funeral Home, with Pastor Jon Morrisette officiating. Burial will be at Oak Ridge Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to Lakeside Christian Church or St. Joseph’s Home.
