E. Jewell George
SPRINGFIELD – E. Jewell George, 76, of Springfield, died Sunday, May 27, 2007 at St. John’s Hospital.
She was born September 4, 1930 in Decatur, IL, the daughter of Virgil Kenneth and Asenath Olmstead Trimmer. She married Manuel “Dee” George on November 13, 1948. Her parents and four brothers preceded her in death.
Mrs. George worked as a nursing assistant in the nursery at St. John’s Hospital. She was a member of Springfield Southern Baptist Church. She enjoyed crocheting. She volunteered for the Springfield Chapter of the American Diabetes Association and the Civil Defense System; she also helped out with the Boy and Girl Scouts.
Survivors: husband, Manuel “Dee” George of Springfield; two daughters, Evelyn George of Tallula and Vada Nolting of Springfield; two sons, Keith (wife, Sandy) George of Jerome and Samuel (wife, Cindy) George of Springfield; four grandchildren, Kendra (husband, Kyle) Daniels, Pennie (husband, Tom) Miskivich, Kevin (wife, Heather) Nolting, and Brahm George; six great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Memorials may be made to Springfield Southern Baptist Church or the American Diabetes Association.
Visitation will be held 4:00-7:00 p.m., Wednesday, May 30, 2007. Lie-in-State: 9:30-10:00 a.m., Thursday, May 31, 2007 at Springfield Southern Baptist Church. Services: 10:00 a.m., Thursday, May 31, 2007 at Springfield Southern Baptist Church, Pastor Mike Keppler and Pastor Bill George officiating. Burial: Oak Ridge Cemetery. Staab Funeral Home of Service.
