Duane Theobald, 89, of Springfield, died at 4:45 pm, Thursday, May 19, 2016 at Lewis Memorial Christian Village. He was born July 24, 1926 in Springfield, to Francis Dean and Lucy Ching Theobald. He married Mary C. Spoonemore on October 3, 1954 and she preceded him in death on February 9, 2014.
Survivors include one son, Ron (Judy) Theobald of Chatham; two grandchildren Kim Smith of Sherman and Lisa Moriconi of Chatham; four great grandchildren, Jeny (Jon) Tribler and Morgan, Sophie and Natalie Moriconi and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife and one brother Melvin Theobald.
Duane was a member of West Side Christian Church, where he was very involved in church activities especially proud of his TNT Sunday school class. He was an avid Cardinals fan.
He had worked for Luer’s Shoe Store and Sears. He also was a ranger and starter at Pasfield Golf Course.
Visitation: 10 – 11 am, Monday, May 23, 2016 at West Side Christian Church.
Funeral Service: 11 am, Monday, May 23, 2016 at West Side Christian Church with pastor Gary Winkleman officiating. Burial will follow at Walnut Hill Cemetery in Williamsville.

I will remember Duane as a kind, soft spoken man. He and I always had a great friendship and respect for each other. I have bought many shoes from him when he worked at Sears and Luer's Shoe Stores for my two children, and he always gave me discounts which always made me feel very special. May he rest in peace.
