Douglas E. Conwill, 68, of Dawson, died at 11:08 pm, Friday, January 7, 2011 at Memorial Medical Center. He was born June 17, 1942 in Springfield, IL to Fred and Eileen Crumly Conwill. He married Beverly A. Cloyd on November 30, 1963 and she survives. Also surviving are one daughter, Michelle (Dennis) Goebel of Lake Mary, FL, one son, Mark D. (Anne) Conwill of Riverton, three grandchildren, Austin, Paige and Grant, three sisters, Norma (Ervin) Shores of Virden, Joyce (Charles) Payne of Girard and Ruth Henry of Virden, two brothers, Fred ‘Fritz’ (Sandy) Conwill of Modesto and William Conwill of Virden, sister-in-law, Mary Frances Conwill of Springfield, several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. He is preceded in death by his parents, one niece and one nephew.
Douglas was a Plumber-Pipefitter for Local #137 for 46 years. He was a resident of Dawson for most of his life.
He loved playing cards, especially pinochle, euchre and rummy cube. He also enjoyed spending time with his grandkids and sitting on his front porch visiting with friends. He was an avid gardener and loved to cook.
Memorial Gathering: 4-7 pm, Wednesday, January 12, 2011 at Staab Funeral Home.
