SPRINGFIELD – Dorothy L. Tannehill-Fatheree, 76, of Springfield went home to be with the Lord at 4:40 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 19, 2009, at Menard Convalescent Center in Petersburg.
She was born Oct. 14, 1933, in Springfield, the daughter of Walter Ray and Mattie Patheal Winesburg. She married Jack Tannehill on February 12, 1955. She later married Jack Fatheree in 1973; he preceded her in death in January 2001. She was also preceded in death by her parents and a sister.
She is survived by two daughters, Cynthia Cleeton (companion, David Nixon) and Becky (Gary) Williamson, both of Springfield; three sons, Jack Tannehill of San Diego, Rick Tannehill (fiancee, Lisa Hughes) and Shane Fatheree (fiancee, Christal Simons), both of Springfield; 13 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren, with one on the way; three sisters, Mae McGee of Sherman, Ruth Payne of Springfield and Lois (Paul) Langan of Marion; a brother, Walter (Emily) Winesburg of Nashville, Tenn.; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Dorothy was a resident of Springfield for most of her life except for between the ages of 14 and 21 when she lived in Marion.
She worked for Sangamo Electric, and at Sheraton Hotel as a hostess. She also worked for Hobbs Manufacturing for 3 years and retired after 10 years from Artex Laundry as a laundress.
Dorothy enjoyed watching TV, visiting with friends, grandkids and great grandkids, thrift shopping and garage sales.
Cremation rites were accorded. The family will be hosting a celebration of life at the DAV, 25 Club Area, Springfield, Illinois, on Saturday, Nov. 21, 2009, from 4 to 8 p.m.
The family requests donations be made to the Salvation Army or the American Lung Association
