Dorothy L. Johnson, 91, of Sherman, died at 5:15 pm, Monday, December 19, 2011 at home under the care of Memorial Home Hospice. She was born August 14, 1920 in Sherman, Illinois to Gaetano and Mary Vignali Ori. She married James A. Johnson, Sr. on October 17, 1942 and he preceded her in death on April 2, 1985. Her parents; one sister, Edith Ori and one brother Joseph Ori also preceded her in death.
Survivors include one daughter Judy Krell of Williamsville; one son James A. (Mary) Johnson, Jr. of Sherman; four granddaughters, Tammy (Russ) Friedewald, Katie (Phil) Zinn, Betsy (Robert) Holland and Abby (John) Bybee; six great grandchildren, Emma, Jack, Sophia, Will, Nicholas and Bobby; two nephews and several cousins.
Dorothy was of the Catholic Faith and was formerly a member of the Ladies Auxiliary at the Sherman Athletic Club. She enjoyed spending time with her family and neighbors and visiting with them on her front porch. She retired in 1994, as the Food and Beverage manager at the Rail Golf Course.
Visitation: 4-7 pm Wednesday, December 21, 2011 at Staab Funeral Home.
Funeral Service: 10 am, Thursday, December 22, 2011 at Staab Funeral Home with Reverend Mary Jessup officiating. Burial will be in Camp Butler National Cemetery.
The family requests that memorial donations be made to Memorial Home Hospice Care for The Dreams and Wishes Fund.
