Dorothy Jean Hollis, 68, of Springfield, died at 10:58 am, Tuesday, March 8, 2011 at St. John’s Hospital. She was born August 4, 1942 in Springfield, Illinois to George W. and Margaret M. O’Leary Stieren.
She is survived by one son, John (Trish) Hollis of Williamsville; three grandsons, George W. “Will”, Andrew J. “A.J.” and John P. “J.P.” Hollis; a granddaughter, Alison Otto; two sisters, Elizabeth Rick of Newport Richey, FL and Margaret Herr of Springfield; a brother-in-law Dr. George Merkle of Carlsbad, CA and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Her parents, two sisters, Mary Merkle and Virginia Smith; one grandson Jordan Linn Hollis; one brother and sister-in-law, George & Maria Stieren; four infant brothers; one infant sister; two brothers-in-law Ken Rick and Raymond Herr preceded her in death.
Dorothy was a member of Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception. She attended Cathedral Grade School; was a graduate of Ursuline Academy and Springfield College in Illinois. She went to LPN School and attended Lincoln Land Community College. She was Vice President of Complete Care Systems Inc and President of Jazzy Cleaning Services, Inc.
Visitation: 4-7 pm Sunday, March 13, 2011 at Staab Funeral Home with a prayer service at 4 p.m.
Funeral Mass: 1 pm, Monday, March 14, 2011 at Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception with Reverend Stephen Thompson officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.
