SPRINGFIELD – Donald W. Timm, 82, of Springfield, died at 12:20 pm, Saturday, September 11, 2010 at Memorial Medical Center. He was born December 24, 1927 in New Rockford, ND to Gil and Helen Roesch Timm. He married his wife of 61 years, Betty J. Mussell, on February 12, 1949 and she survives. Also surviving are a daughter-in-law Angie Timm of Springfield; three sons Mike (Karen) Timm and Gary Timm both of Hopkinton, NH and Gil (Trili) Timm of Chichester, NH; ten grandsons; five granddaughters; a great grandson and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son Mark Timm and a sister Jacquelyn VanPelt.
Donald was a U.S. Army Veteran serving in the Occupational Forces following WWII. He was a Special Agent with the FBI and was a school teacher and coach. He was the founder of Illinois Code Co, past active member of YMCA and served on the Board of Directors of the Boys Club. His life was very active with sporting events, coaching different teams at many different levels. He enjoyed fishing and was actively involved with the operations of Brookhills Golf Club. He was also a great storyteller.
Memorial Gathering: 4-7 pm, Wednesday, September 15, 2010 at Staab Funeral Home.
A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
