Bob Ginder, 81, of Springfield, died at 7:08 a.m. on Sunday, September 1, 2013 at Memorial Medical Center. He was born February 9, 1932 in Rochester, IL to Chris and Gertrude Stone Ginder. He married Marguerite “Meg” Proves on June 28, 1952 in Springfield.
Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Meg; one daughter: Pamela (Fiancé: James Milner) Gibbs; one grandson: Aaron; sister: Mary Welle; brother-in-law: Tony Proves and sister-in-law: Cecelia Charlton along with several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his siblings Bill, Lyman “Jack”, Elmer, Catherine and Grace.
Bob retired from E & F Distributing after 37 years and then began working part-time for S & K Pontiac. He was a combat veteran of the Korean War, serving with the United States Army. He was an active member of the Eagles Club, VFW 755, Masonic Springfield Lodge #4 and “The Boys from Illinois Motorcycle Riding Club.” Along with riding his Softail Harley, Bob enjoyed spending time with his grandson, gardening, NASCAR, and traveling, especially on cruises.
Visitation: 4-7 p.m., Wednesday, September 4, 2013 at Staab Funeral Home.
Funeral Service: 10:00 a.m. Thursday, September 5, 2013 at Staab Funeral Home with Dr. Roger Ross officiating. Burial will be in Rochester Cemetery where the Interveterans Burial Detail of Sangamon County will conduct military honors.
