Donald F. Kruger, 88, of Springfield, died at 7:55 pm, Monday, March 25, 2013 at Illinois Veteran’s Home in Quincy. He was born July 14, 1924 in Springfield to Henry and Bernice Flesch Kruger. He married Ferne A. Comstock on September 3, 1949 and she survives.
Also surviving are two daughters, Christine (Bob) Denk of Urbandale, IA and Kathy (Terry) Charlton of Springfield; four sons, Tom (Terry) Kruger of Dixon, IL, Gerry (Ann) Kruger of San Antonio, TX, Mike (Pat) Kruger of Springfield an Pat (Shawn) Kruger of Dallas, TX; eleven grandchildren, Rob Denk (Partner: Bryan), Julie (Matt) Schultz, Jessica Kruger, Nicholas (Chris) Kruger, Sarah & Amy Kruger, Michael, Kruger, Katelyn & Will Charlton, Shelly DeFrates and Tracy Waisman; three great grandchildren, Becca, Breanna and Jaina and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two aunts, Isaebel Hesse and Sr. Bernice Kruger and one infant daughter, Karen.
Donald was a US Navy veteran serving during WWII. He enjoyed traveling in his RV and visiting family. He worked as a carpenter and retired from the State of Illinois Department of Public Aid as a Social Worker.
Memorial Gathering: 9-10 am, Tuesday, April 2, 2013 at St. Agnes Church.
Funeral Service: 10 am, Tuesday, April 2, 2013 at St. Agnes Church with Reverend Robert Jallas officiating.
