SPRINGFIELD – Donald E. Napier, 73, of Springfield, died at 5:19 pm, Thursday, August 5, 2010 at Memorial Medical Center. He was born September 20, 1936 in Springfield, Illinois to Gustav Gus and Margaret Connelly Napier. He married Carol Penn on August 1, 1959 and she survives. Also surviving are 4 daughters, Mary Napier and spouse, Mike Gagne of Carrboro, NC, Lori (David) Laaker of Lexington, KY, Susan (Alan) Carlson of Cumming, GA, Karen (James) Vost of Springfield; 8 grandchildren, Sarah and Evan Gagne, Kyle, Cory and Collin Laaker, Daniel Carlson and Brad and Ryan Vost; 1 brother Tom (Carol) Napier of Glenarm and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, 1 son Michael Edward Napier, 2 sisters Mary Ann Wilson and Peggy Fronmuller.
Donald was a member of St. Agnes Church; the Illinois Air National Guard serving active duty during the Berlin Crisis in 1961. He was a graduate of Cathedral Boys H.S. School, and was the Owner and Operator of Napier Machine and Welding retiring in 2002.
Visitation 11am ” 1pm, Monday, August 9, 2010 at Staab Funeral Home with a funeral service at 1pm. Reverend Robert Jallas officiating. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery.
