Derek “Limey” Timmins, 89, of Springfield, IL, passed away on Thursday, May 12, 2022 at Springfield Memorial Hospital. He was born in England on March 9, 1933, the son of Thomas and Elizabeth Timmins and they preceded him in death.
He is survived by one son, Derek Timmins, Jr., daughter-in-law, Diane Timmins, three grandsons, Christopher (Kerry), Nicholas (Jordan), and Matt (Chloe), and great grandchildren, Olivia, Maisie, Ava, Amelia, and Louie, as well as step great grandchildren, Ellis and Dee; his brother, Brian, all of England and his best friend of many years, Jane Schmidt of Springfield, IL and many other friends.
Derek was a stone Mason and was recruited by Evans Mason Masonry Company to come to the United States in the early 1960’s. He was a member of the Brick Layers Union #8. He was know as “Limey” by his coworkers and had many friends in the trades. He enjoyed his Saturday outings with Jane, traveling in Illinois and Missouri sampling the cuisine along the way. In his retirement years he took several wonderful trips with Jane.
Graveside Service: 10:00 am, Wednesday, May 18, 2022 at Roselawn Memorial Park.
