Derek A. Woods, 19, of Nokomis, died at 3:15 pm, Sunday, January 27, 2013, in Springfield. He was born October 29, 1993 in Springfield to Terry A. Woods and Deborah Roemhildt.
He is survived by his parents, Terry Woods (fiancé: Sharon Naab) of Springfield and Deborah (Pam Scott) Scott of Hillsboro; one brother, Dillon (Dawn) Woods of Riverton; one aunt; two nephews and several cousins.
Derek enjoyed playing guitar, video games, writing music, facebook and taking drives on a sunny day. He formerly attended Lincoln Land Community College.
Visitation: 11am – 1pm, Thursday, January 31, 2013 at Staab Funeral Home.
Funeral Service: 1 pm, Thursday, January 31, 2013 at Staab Funeral Home with Pastor Mark Gifford officiating. Burial will follow at Chatham Memorial Cemetery.

God I looked to see if this was true, and I'm horrified to see it is. Derek, I miss you so much. We had become friends on a whim and had gotten close fast. He hung out with me with no pretenses, no bullsh*t. He was a beautiful and sincere human being. We had fallen out of touch as of lately but the last I heard, you were doing exceptionally well with things my man. I wish I would of called you that day and kept you on the phone for hours. This isn't fair. I know you're part of the all-knowing otherside now Derek. God he wouldn't of liked the song playing on this page. Derek knew good music. I miss you man. I'm so sorry to your family. Goddamn this isn't fair.
