Dennis R. Marrin, 64, of Springfield, died at 7:40 am, Monday, April 16, 2012 at his home. He was born May 18, 1947 in Springfield to Thomas Paul and Mary Merick Marrin. He married Madonna Fromm on April 29, 1978 and she survives. Also surviving are two daughters, Stephanie (David) Lara of Chicago and Nicole (Fiance: James Froehner) Marrin of Springfield; four sisters Pam (Garry) Williamson of Hillsboro, Kay Marrin of Phoenix, AZ, Martha Marrin and Sheila (Dave) Ryan both of Springfield; three brothers, Tom Marrin of Phoenix, AZ, Jamie Marrin of Boston, MA and Joe (Judy) Marrin of Springfield; two sisters-in-law, Kim (John) Luparell of Springfield and Jennifer (Mike) Crowe of Spaulding; two brothers-in-law, Robert (Sue) Fromm, Jr. of Springfield and Jim (Mary) Fromm of Geneva, IL; Mother and Father in-law, Robert and Marilyn Fromm, Sr., of Springfield, and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
His parents and one niece, Hillary Fromm preceded him in death.
Dennis was a member of St. Joseph’s Church, where he served as Eucharist Minister. He coached many girl’s softball, basketball and volleyball teams. He was a avid Cardinal fan and enjoyed exercising and playing with his beagle, Milo and spending time with his family, especially his girls.
He worked for the State of Illinois as a mail clerk for the State Retirement system and had formerly taught Social Studies at Little Flower School.
Visitation: 5-7 pm, Wednesday, April 18, 2012 at St. Joseph’s Church.
Lie-In-State: 9:30-10am, Thursday, April 19, 2012 at St. Joseph’s Church.
Funeral Mass: 10 am, Thursday, April 19, 2012 at St. Joseph’s Church with Monsignor Thomas Holinga officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph’s Church or to Goodwill Industries.
