Delmar "Loren" Gross III

July 23, 1973 - June 26, 2016

Delmar “Loren”, Gross, III, 42, of Springfield, died at 11:28 pm, Sunday, June 26, 2016, at Memorial Medical Center. He was born July 23, 1973, in Decatur, to Delmar Loren and Gail Lockwood Gross, II. He married Jacqueline Willhite on November 13, 2009 and she survives.

Also surviving are one son Devin Tom of Springfield; father, Loren (Donna) Gross of Taylorville; mother, Gail (Edward) Anderson of Roanoke, VA; brothers and sisters, Matthew (Vicki) Schaal of Ramsey, Luke (Michelle) Schaal of Vandalia, Christi (Patrick) Grant of Taylorville, Shawne (Dwan) Gross of Divernon, Cody (Melissa) Patterson of Taylorville, Joshua Gross of Taylorville and Carrie (Vincent) Pop of Kincaid and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Loren was a US Navy Veteran and was a member of the NRA. He was a supervisor at Landmark Environmental for five years and previously was an electrician.

Visitation: 4-7 pm, Friday, July 1, 2016 at Staab Funeral Home.

Funeral Service: 10 am, Saturday, July 2, 2016 at Staab Funeral Home with Pastor Mike Anderson officiating. Burial will follow at Camp Butler National Cemetery, where military honors will conducted.

Memorial contributions may be made to Spring Veteran Renaissance.

I heard about this tragedy upon my return from my vacation and was deeply saddened to hear this news!...Although i did not know Little Loren on a personal level, i do know the rest of the family quite well...Words cannot express how sorry i am for the Gross family....Hang in there gang and stay strong...and may GOD bless the Gross family!

I met Loren about 30 years ago in geography class when making new friends at a new school was challenging. He was fun and his family was nice to me. When I would call his house, whoever answered the phone would ask "big Loren or little Loren". He could pop and ride a wheelie farther than anybody I knew. We once sent my model train rolling down the tracks and lit it on fire with hairspray, we laughed so hard we were out of breath and couldn't blow it out and it melted terribly. He was a good friend. I hope I meant as much to him as he means to me. I'm sorry he is gone and miss him already. My sincerest condolences to his family. He will forever be cherished as a friend of mine. Andy Cox

I really like the picture that was chosen to represent Loren. I can't ever remember talking to him without him laughing or having a smile on his face. The picture is very representative of Loren. He was a good guy. Loosing someone like that hurt everyone. I cannot offer enough sentiments to the Gross family. I am really sorry.

Loren was my best friend in the Navy, we had a lot of great times. I wish we could have reminisced about the good ole days. Even though it's been a number of years since we spoke I will miss him. He was a great friend. I am so sorry for your loss. Craig
