SPRINGFIELD – Dean Weston Taylor, 82, of Springfield died at 8:21 p.m. Monday, Jan. 26, 2009, at Memorial Medical Center.
He was born Feb. 20, 1926, in Auburn, the son of Richard and Anna Oltman Taylor. He married Marian E. DeVriend in 1950. He was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, George and Richard Rusty Taylor.
Mr. Taylor was a welder for Precision Products, retiring in 1989.
He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving during World War II in the infantry, where he received two bronze battle stars. He was an avid golfer and Cardinals and Illini fan. He was a former Khoury League baseball coach.
Surviving are his wife, Marian Taylor of Springfield; two daughters, Sharon (husband, Gary) Clark and Lisa Price, both of Springfield; a son, Mark Taylor of Springfield; three grandchildren, Jennifer (husband, Michael) Armitage, Greg Clark and Ashley Price; four great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. until time of services at 10 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 29, 2009, at Staab Funeral Home with Pastor Ken Gennicks officiating. Burial will be in Camp Butler National Cemetery where the Interveterans Burial Detail of Sangamon County and the Illinois National Guard will conduct military honors.
