Dawn Marie Gietl, 56, of Springfield, died at 9:57pm, Saturday, February 5, 2011 at Memorial Medical Center. She was born October 4, 1954 in Kewanee, IL to Warren “Mike” and Dorothy Hanson Mitro. She married Emil “Joe” Gietl, Jr, on May 23, 1992. She is preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Robert Mitro and one son, Jeremy Ball. She is survived by her husband; one daughter, Erika (Chris) Thompson of Springfield; six grandchildren, Colton, Rae Ann, Kyle, Olin, Noah and Leonela; seven brothers, Michael (Judy) Mitro of Bardstown, KY, Gary (Sheri) Mitro of Kewanee, IL, David (Becky) Mitro of Kewanee, IL, Phillip Mitro of Williamsburg, IA, Terry (Rhonda) Mitro of Riverton, IL, John (Julie) Mitro of Cambridge, IL and Tim Mitro of Kewanee, IL; two sister-in-laws, Mary Lynn (Patrick) Deloney of Springfield and April Mitra of Kewanee; friends of 53 years, Rose and Walt Nelson of Wyanett, IL; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Dawn was a member of Eagles Aerie 437 and formerly coached Riverton Girls Softball. She loved to sew, crochet, bowl, golf and play Bingo and Bunco. She loved getting together and spending time with family. Dawn worked for Boss Manufacturing and was a Transcriptionist for Springfield Clinic. She was a resident of Springfield since 1983.
Visitation: 4-7pm, Wednesday, February 9, 2011 at Staab Funeral Home.
Funeral Service: 10am, Thursday, February 10, 2011 at Staab Funeral Home with Pastor Ed Ingram officiating. Burial will follow at Camp Butler National Cemetery.
