David R. “Randy” Colliver, 57, of Springfield, died peacefully at home on, Sunday, June 3, 2012, after a courageous battle with cancer. Randy was born August 11, 1954, the son of Raymond and Nellie Colliver. He graduated from Lanphier High and vocational school in 1972. He married Mary Frances Mehl on June 12, 1976. It was the first wedding held at Doctor’s Hospital and was performed by Reverend Hillhouse.
Randy was a machinist by trade, working for Napier Machine Shop for 17 years. He then worked for Maxim Chassis and later worked for Eagle Chassis. He was an avid Chicago Bears fan, wouldn’t miss the Silver Crown car racing at the Illinois State Fair. He enjoyed fishing with his friends and impromptu get togethers in the backyard.
His parents and one sister preceded him in death, as well as his best friend, Marty Gerdanc.
Surviving to cherish his memory are his wife, Mary; daughter, April (Adam) Crowder of Sherman; son, Ray Colliver (Companion: Ashley Metzger) of Springfield; two beautiful grandchildren, Caden and Maria Crowder; brother, Mason (Patti) Colliver of Surprise, AZ; brother-in-law, K.B. (Linda) Mehl of St. Louis; sister-in-law, Marilyn (Joe) Longmeyer of Freeport, IL and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Memorial Gathering: 4-7 pm, Friday, June 8, 2012 at Staab Funeral Home.
