SPRINGFIELD – David H. Bogardus, 66, a lifelong resident of Springfield, died Sunday, Nov. 1, 2009, at his residence.
He was born Jan. 8, 1943, in Springfield, the son of Adam Henry and Louise Snodgrass Bogardus. He married Joyce Pelham on July 25, 1964.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Michael Bogardus.
Mr. Bogardus was a printer for the Illinois Department of Agriculture, retiring after 35 years.
He was very active in the Rod & Reel Club and Aqua Sports Club. He loved cooking, playing horseshoes and spending time with his granddaughters.
Surviving are his wife, Joyce; two sons, Todd (Theresa) Bogardus of Chicago and Eric (Christina Regon) Bogardus of Boston; two granddaughters, Lily and Isabella Bogardus; three sisters, JoAnn Thrasher of Springfield, Nancy (Gerald) Grant of Russellville, Ark., and Jeanne Bogardus of San Rafael, Calif.; a brother, Rodger (Nikki) Bogardus of Long Beach, N.J.; two sisters-in-law, Donna (Ed) Smith of Sunset Lake and Linda Pelham of Springfield; a brother-in-law, Ronnie (Betty) Pelham of Texas; several aunts and uncles; seven nieces; six nephews; and several cousins.
Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 5, 2009, at Staab Funeral Home. Services will be there at 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 6, 2009, with Robert Green officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery.
