Darlene F. Norman, 73, of Sherman, IL died at 6:45 p.m. on Sunday, June 2, 2013 at Sunny Acres Nursing Home. She was born on August 11, 1939 in Springfield, IL to Roy and Charlotte Sharp Eddington.
She married Kenneth Alvin Norman in 1959 and he preceded her in death on October 22, 2001. She is also preceded in death by her parents and one daughter, Cindy M. Norman.
Darlene is survived by her son, Kenneth F. Norman of Sherman; two sisters, Ida (Lester) Reed and Victoria (“Junior”) Williamson, both of Springfield; one uncle, Thomas (Mildred) Sharp of Springfield and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
She had been a homemaker and farm wife, a job she dearly loved for many years. She had formerly worked at Foster’s Studio, Strong’s Cafeteria and had also worked in catering. She enjoyed cooking and baking and was a Blue Ribbon Winner at the Illinois State Fair and several area County fairs for her baking and cooking. She was a 1958 graduate of Feitschans High School. She enjoyed spending time outdoors.
Visitation: 4:00-7:00 p.m. Thursday, June 6, 2013 at Staab Funeral Home
Funeral Service: 10 a.m. Friday, June 7, 2013 at Staab Funeral Home with Steve Miller officiating. Burial will follow at Camp Butler National Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the family of Darlene Norman to help offset her medical care cost.
